cologne is one of the most heavily destroyed cities in germany in the second world war. during the reconstruction it was decided to keep the old plot structures but to build modern houses on them. people often complain that the historic cityscape has been destroyed and replaced with soulless modernist architecture. however, they do not see they that the new buildings have shaped a new townscape of special quality. similar to historic cologne, the city is only created by the combination of many simple but diverse houses. compiled on the poster, the diversity and beauty of post-war cologne becomes apparent.
